Angels from Heaven > One of my Angels
Today I am going to bring you GREAT news of one of my three Angels adopted from India long ago.
I always try to keep my personal life and Children are Angels from Heaven work separate but I feel this is a story that you might enjoy reading at least for the time being.
As many of you know my wife Patty and I have three children adopted from Calcutta India. When our two girls came home everything worked out great. They each went to school, studied hard and have become wonderful children and productive workers in our country.
My boy Raymond came to us special, as a gift from God himself.
In 1997 I was visiting an orphanage on one of my annual trips to India when a woman brought him into the room. Raymond was very sick and the Massies that I was talking to immediately took the boy in their arms and cut off the torn clothes that he was wearing and started giving him help.
I just stepped back and let the 15 or so women work on him to keep him alive. It was late at night and I thought it best I just go to my hotel and let the women work to save this boy.
The next day I went back to the orphanage and all the Massies were waiting for me with a clipboard at the door and told me that they wanted me to name the little boy who came to the orphanage last night.
For a very very special reason that I will not tell you why in this mail, why I named the boy Raymond…
After following Raymonds medical history and him being so sick it was found that Raymond would grow up to be special.
To fast forward the story>>> Both Patty and I adopted Raymond and he has been part of our family for 23 years.
My girls and the rest of my family have loved Raymond since the first day he came to us. We have dealt with every medical issue that has come up and also had many fun trips with Raymond and our girls. Never for one time has Raymond ever been not part of anywhere we have ever gone or done. We are a family and no matter the issue we are together as one.
Everything was going along great. We did what the Doctors told us for many years and Raymonds medical issues were far and fewer as he got older , but on October 1, 2020 ten months ago Raymond got very very sick with something new to us and we rushed him to the Children’s hospital in Boston. We did not know what it was, maybe Covid or something else we were not sure about but we knew it was very different and serious.
It took a little time for the Doctors and Children’s hospital to pinpoint the problem but Raymonds Liver had failed.
Raymond was the sickest child on the floor of the ICU at that time. To be very honest we did not think that Rayond was going to come home with us.
Raymond spent over 3 weeks in the ICU with many wires and hoses along with machines around his bed to try to help him.
With the Grace of God Raymond came home ..He was very weak and all black and blue and had lost over 30 pounds. Raymond was also very weak.
The Doctors told us that Raymond has Cirrhosis of the Liver and was going to need a liver transplant.
Patty and I were shocked as this was all new and we knew nothing about a liver .
One of my girls is a registered nurse so she became the go between with the Doctor and we have done everything that we were told to do.
The Doctor explained to us back in Oct when they found that Raymonds liver failed, that the Liver is the only organ in your body that can re- generate or try to fix itself. It is also the largest organ in your body and you can not live without it.
To have a liver transplant is a huge major 12 hour operation and sometimes the results do not work out. Another problem that we were worried about was Raymond is SPECIAL and has other issues and how would all that work out with major surgery…
Again we did what the Doctors told us and visited many other Doctors such as lung , heart, kidney, even the dentist over the past 10 months to move forward for a liver transplant. We even found living donors that were willing to share their liver with Raymond. It sure has been quite a year for me and my family looking after Raymond and also dealing with Covid.
Since Oct 2019 we have lost 12 family members and very close friends in our family, not all to Covid but it sure has been hard like I am sure Covid has been the same for all of you.
I prayed to God every day , along with what seems like a million other people all over the world from all walks of life and religions to look after Raymond.
As each month went by Raymond was doing better but was still on the Liver Transplant list. Raymonds numbers did improve but not by that much .
That brings me to the other day Aug 17 2021 Raymond returned to the Liver dept at the hospital for tests and a check up. The Doctor ran a lot of tests and we waited for the results.
When the tests were finished and looked over we met with 3 liver doctors one being a surgeon..
They told us that besides Raymond losing a lot of weight his number have very much improved. They said that this is rare and it’s kind of a miracle.
Raymonds MELD was 22 it is now 14 >>>> Raymond Albumin was 2.2 it is now 3.0
The Doctors explained that Both numbers work hand and hand one number is no good without the other .
They also said that for the ALBUMIN to increase .08 was fantastic and this tells us that the liver is working and making a comeback. The Dr said Raymonds liver is scarred and they do not know what might happen . They said he is on a see-saw. His numbers have gone up to be good but he can also go down to be bad.
The Doctors agreed that the best thing to do at this time is to wait and not do a transplant because of the trauma and after effects it may cause and wait a few months with the hopes that the Liver will even get better in time.
The Doctors decided to take Ramond off the liver transplant list and instead put him on a stand-by list that may or may not be needed..
To Patty and I that’s GREAT news…
I would like to say Thank You to Everyone who has kept Raymond in their prayers all over the world from every God and who have reached out to help us.
Please continue to keep Raymond and all the other people in the world in your prayers that are sick and need help..
Raymond has lost 30 pounds. I have put a photo at the bottom of the page of him.
It was taken in better times so I thought this would be best to show for now.
