Hats and Writing Pens to Nepal
A few months ago I was given 3 BIG boxes of Baseball Hats and Writing Pens from a person named Karen.
I unpacked all the boxes and made 2 good size boxes to send. One to a village in Tulachan , Nepal and another to a school in Rourkela , India.
In total there were about 1500 Writing Pens and about 300 Baseball Hats.
To ship boxes halfway around the world overseas, it requires lots of paperwork with the exact details of what is inside every box and money too for shipping costs.
Many times the boxes are opened by the officials to make sure everything is legal and the contents match up to what is written on the paperwork, and at times, I do get charged duty charges for the goods being imported into the country.
The story today is about one of the boxes reaching a small village in Nepal where I have been working with Sister Shanti.
Sister Shanti is a very hard worker of the Daughters of the Cross Sisters. Sister lives in a Convent in the village and teaches at the school. She knows every single student in the school as well as all the village people who live in the surrounding area.
Sister Shanti Received the big box in mid March and un-packed it with the other Sisters. Soon after, Sister Shanti was very busy handing everything out to the Students of her school.
Our Gifts made many children very Happy. Every student of the school received a new ink pen and many of the children got new hats.
You may be thinking why is just one writing pen so special to these children …. or the hats
Here are a few words directly from an Email that Sister Shanti sent me saying Thank You for Everything …

Very dear Mr. Ray,
Greetings and gratitude fromTulachan, Nepal. Hope all is well with you and with the Angels in heaven. We and our children from here thank you and your donors for all the help we received from Last April.
I do not have enough words to express the joy our children felt as we distributed the hats and pens you sent us. What a big number we got!!.575 pens and 105 hats, all new!!. “Praise the Lord!!” the sisters said when we opened the box. Your donors and friends have a big generous heart just like yours. Isn’t it? May you and your group be blessed with more and more blessings from God. May all of your families be joyful.
As we went through each class distributing the pens, the kids straight away started writing and making little noise while pushing again and again from the back end of the pen. They were really excited because such pens are not available in the village here. Moreover they are costly in the towns.
Putting on the hats, the kids enjoyed playing in the sun. Some even gave it to their parents who were working in the rice paddy field under the sun!!. It is already summer here. 23*Celsius now. You have brought a lot of laughter, smiles, excitement in St. Joseph’s school Tulachan. I am still wondering how you could do this in spite of the winter cold and your busy schedule!. Please thank the donors. We are praying for them, Our children are praying for them.
We also shared the joy with the Parish children who go to government schools by distributing them the pens. Soon the exams will start. So they can use the pens effectively.
You have been sincerely trying to help us dear Mr. Ray. May your work flourish and bring more and more smiles and Joy in different parts of the world. This is my sincere Prayer for you and your friends.
With warm regards and wishes,
I remain,
Sr. Shanti FC

I would also like to say a big Thank You to Everyone for all your help and support… No we do not have millions of dollars, but we sure can do a lot with a little and also be accountable and responsible for everything done, big or small.
When you look at some of the photos you will see new high Low Desks that we bought for the school last year.
Thank You for your continued help and support to help the poor .
