School Supplies For India – 2021

School Supplies For India – 2021

Today  I would like to take a few minutes and write about the school supplies that I hand out to the children in India each year at local schools. As we all know, going to school for every student young or old ,is the most important part of a child’s life. You go there to learn and to grow over the years to become educated. That is the key to a good life.

To do this you need the tools to do it. With your help I do my very best to help a few children each year. Over the years working with people we have found to do it in a way that can be more efficient and practicable. With the help of Cheryl Rodrigues in Calcutta and Anwesha Bhattacharya of Germany along with myself we have found a better way to do things..

In Calcutta Cheryl has arranged with a small shop named Genius Book Center to buy small school supplies and have a pencil, ruler, eraser, pencil sharpener, wax crayons, and a small exercise book with lined paper all put inside a sealed plastic packet to hand out to each small child in a local school. The packets are put in big blue bags and are brought to my Guest House where I stay for storage and distribution. Over the past few years this program has really worked out great, and many children and teachers have loved everything.

Below are a few photos to show you….

From Boston, I take with me on my trip many small inexpensive calculators and colored pencils for the older children that are also appreciated. Please understand I just can not buy a regular small calculator that only runs on batteries as the children that I visit would never have money for batteries when they go dead. The calculators must run on battery and Solar power so the children can have them for a long time to learn about numbers and amounts. Indian children also love to draw and their work is excellent, so colored pencils go a long way to make many smiles and fulfill many of the children’s dreams.

In Rourkela, which is far from the big city, Anwesha has worked out a system where I can buy the same school supplies from a company called First Cry and have them delivered to the Daughters of the Cross Convent School.  They are not in individual packets and are in big boxes and must be handed out separate to the children. This saves a lot of money doing it this way . With saved money I can expand more to help more children. Many of the children that I visit live in villages and love everything very much.

I hope that you liked this short mail  today and it made you smile.  Thank All of You for your continued help and support each year for Children are Angels from Heaven. I am still not allowed to travel to India because of restrictions of Covid 19 but I am now working on a few projects that I will write about soon.

For now everyone should have already received or soon get my next newsletter. They were all put in the mail in mid Dec but because of Covid their delivery is very slow this year. If you do not get it or want another one let me know and I will send it to you.  You can also read it online on our website. www.childrenareangels.org

Thanks Again for everything
